AFTER POLAND, NOW ROMANIA PURCHASED PATRIOT AIR DEFENSE MISSILE SYSTEM

Mustafa AY – TDO – 21.11.2017 Mihai-Viorel Fifor -Romanian Defense Minister- made the statements concerning the speculated purchase of Patriot systems. Mr. Fifor uttered that they reached a consensus on the purchase of patriot systems, which is worth to 3.9 billion Dollars, following the same deal completed with Poland by Washington. Minister Fifor told the reporters the fact that he couldn’t ratify the deal because of the both Senate’s Defense Committee and Upper House of Senate’s approval for the procurement of missile system were needed. So, as it is evident with the official statement by Minister Fifor on Monday, the deal was completed without any disagreement.

According to the elaborated statement released by Romanian Ministry of Defense, Romania took 7 Patriot Missile Systems until 2019. In 2020, the air defense systems will be rendered full-operational following completion of all the essential training of Romanian troops. The interesting thing emerging from this consecutive sellings to Romania and Poland can be evaluated as a retaliation to Russia’s presence in Black Sea, Turkey’s deal of S-400 with Russia and Russia’s military build-up in Baltic Region.
