69TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA




News Centre – TDO – The People’s Republic of China’s Ambassador to Turkey Yu Hongyang and his spouse Zhao Meimei have hosted a reception at the JW Marriott Hotel to mark the 69th anniversary of the founding of the PRC.

The reception was attended by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, AK Party MP Ravza Kavakçı Kan, Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mustafa Tuna and President of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen Bendevi Palandöken.

Speaking at the reception, Minister Pakdemirli said that he had spent a lot of time in China, liked the food very much, but began to miss Turkish food after seven days. Touching on China’s One Belt One Road project, Pakdemirli said “It promises a future of 50 years for 2 billion people and 65 countries through 3 trillion dollars of investment. China and Turkey are carrying out important investments together in transport and energy. Our volume of trade with China is high, but we need to be doing more trade, looking for more business partnerships.”

Pakdemirli reminded the audience that 2018 in the China-Turkey Year of Tourism and ended his speech with the Chinese saying "A generation plants a tree, the next rests under its shadow".

China’s Ambassador to Ankara Yu Hongyang expressed his pleasure at hosting the guests at the reception. Hongyang said that over the last 40 years, China’s GDP had grown by an average of 9.5 per cent per annum and its volume of trade by 14.5 per cent per annum and added “Today China is the world’s second largest economy, largest manufacturer, largest trader in goods and the country with the greatest foreign currency reserves. This year, in November, China’s first International Exports Fair will be held in Shanghai. A more prosperous and open China will certainly offer an opportunity for the development of countries around the world.”

Hongyang said “The Chinese side, in cooperation with the Turkish side is speeding up work on harmonising initiatives for the One Belt One Road project and are ready to make further efforts to realise deeper cooperation at a higher level to improve the welfare of the people of both countries and to ensure a brighter future for relations between China and Turkey."

After the speeches a cake was cut and guests were offered refreshments.
