News Center–TDO- In cooperation with TURKSOY (International Organization of Turkish Culture) and Ministry of Culture, an event was held at TURKSOY Headquarters due to 650th anniversary of the birth of Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nesimi.
TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov, the Chief Advisor to the President Yalcin Topcu, Azerbaijani Minister Culture of Ebulfes Garayev, former Minister of Culture Ertugrul Gunay, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Prof. Dr. Ahmet Haluk Dursun, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Isen, Kazakhstan Ambassador to Turkey Abzal Saparbekuly and many guests attended to the event.
TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kaseinov, who made the opening speech, stated that TURKSOY has the task of introducing the Turkish culture to new generations. Kaseinov said that Nesimi's works are always remembered and also added, "To meet with our friends and to serve the Turkish culture has always been an honor for us."
In his speech at the event, the Chief Advisor to the President Yalcin Topcu said that the love of humanity and love of Allah is emphasized in the lines of Nesimi.
Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Ebulfes Garayev said in his speech, "We are trying to bring the light of the soul to today's harsh world by keeping the name of the philosopher Imadeddin Nesimi."
Garayev said that the cultural treasures of the Turkic world came together in TURKSOY, and that Turkish culture continued to enrich the world civilization. Mr. Ambassador also added, "The great state servants, the writers and thinkers who inherited us, contributed not only to Turkish World, but they also contributed to the countries of the World.”
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Turkey also said in his speech, "the name of the Azerbaijani philosopher Imadeddin Nesimi, trying to bring the light of the spirit of today's tough world. We look to the future by valuing the name of Nesimi. The works of Nesimi must be conveyed in a way that the new generation will understand."
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Haluk Dursun stated that Nesimi is a figure of the Turkish literature.
The event featured a panel discussion about the life of Imadeddin Nesimi, one of the most important poets and philosophers of Azerbaijan who lived in the 14th century.
TURKSOY announcing commemorative years in order to introduce the respected personalities to the public and to present them to future generations in the Turkish World's culture and art life, TURKSOY declared the year of 2019 as the year of “Commemorating Nesimi” on the occasion of the 650th anniversary of the birth of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nesimi and also the year of "Asik Veysel Commemoration Year" on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the birth of the famous poem Asik Veysel.
