News Centre – TDO- The 2018 Turkey-Thailand Year of Culture activities organised to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic ties between the countries have begun with a Thai Culture Night held at Ankara's Cüneyt Gökçer Theatre. The evening, in which Thai culture was introduced with colourful images was attended by Turkish Minister for Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Thai Minister of Culture Vira Rojpojchanarat, Thai Ambassador to Turkey Phantipha Lamsudha Ekarohit and many other guests.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Culture and Tourism Ersoy remarked on the importance of increasing cultural, artistic and tourism ties between the two countries. Minister Ersoy said that in November and December this year, his ministry would publicise Turkish culture in Thailand through stage shows, photography and handicrafts exhibitions, Turkish cuisine days, Turkish cinema week and seminars on archaeology.
Ersoy said that the Declaration of Intent signed on the occasion of 60 years of diplomatic ties between Turkey and Thailand was an important step in conveying the friendship between the two countries to coming generations and said “The Declaration of Intent we have signed today is a significant step towards ensuring that the strong friendship between our two countries is continued in stronger fashion by the coming generations.”
Ersoy said that activities in Turkey would take place between September 27th and October 7th and that Thailand’s unique culture and arts would be displayed in Ankara, Izmir and Istanbul.
