2016 G20 HANGZHOU SUMMIT





Initiated in 1999, G20 meetings of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors were held to discuss international financial and monetary policies, reform of international financial institutions and world economic development.Through participation of the world' twenty largest economies, the 2016 G20 Hangzhou summit will be the eleventh G20 meeting and it is planned to be held on 4-5 September 2016 in the city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang.Bringing together developed and emerging economies, the summit aims to increase international economic cooperation and it consists of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union (EU). In Spain and Thailand participates as guest countries.In addition, some institutions - the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, the Financial Stability Board, the International Labour Organization, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) - were invited to attend in the G20 summit.According to a statement from the Presidential Press Center, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will attend the G20 Leaders' Summit which will be held in Hangzhou. In this context, Erdogan will have bilateral meetings with some of the country' leaders and UN Secretary General.On Friday, with the invitation of Chinese President Chi Cinping, President Erdogan went to Hangzhou city and he will have a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. U.S. President Barack Obama will have a bilateral meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan during the G20 summit in China. It is also announced that Erdoğan will have a quartet meeting with French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister.According to statement made by the Turkish president' Spokesman İbrahim Kalın, it is scheduled that Erdoğan will have a meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Francois Hollande and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.Besides economic issues, it is expected to be given large place for refugee crisis at the meeting since Merkel stated that she wants to talk with Erdogan about immigration crisis.Meanwhile, in an interview with Bloomberg before the G20 summit in China, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the G20 was not a platform to discuss foreign policy, it was created as a platform for discussing economic issues.
