News Centre-TDO- South Africa is celebrating the Centenary Year of Former President Nelson Mandela under the theme ‘Be the Legacy’ throughout 2018.
The South African Embassy, in cooperation with The Çankaya Municipality, will be hosting an exhibition entitled “Mandela’s Suitcase” from 04-27 September 2018 at Zülfü Livaneli Culture Center in Çankaya.
The collection by Ernst August Quensen “Mandela's Suitcase” is roving all over the world with İbrahim Karaoglu as the Curator.
The collection contains the paintings by artists Günter Uecker, Sol Le Witt, Jörg Immendorff, Jean Miotte, Allen Jones, Sokari Douglas Camp, Mo Edoga, Esther Mahlangu, Mickael Bethe Selassie, Owusu Ankomah, Nils Burwitz, Nam June Paik is placed in a wooden suitcase produced by Owusu Ankomah for Mandela.
The Exhibition was displayed in several famous museums both in Europe and United States. In Turkey it was displayed first in Eskişehir Odunpazarı Municipality Contemporary Arts Gallery and in Istanbul at Kemer Country Golf Club. Later the exhibition was displayed in Antalya Şebnem Bahar Art & Design Gallery.
The exhibition will be opened on 4th September with a Reception hosted by H.E. Ambassador Malefane at Zülfü Livaneli Culture Center in Çankaya. The South African Embassy and the Çankaya Municipality will also celebrate South Africa’s Heritage Month in September.
The viewing hours at the Zülfü Livaneli Culture Center is from 09h00-20h00 until 27 September 2018. Information on the exhibition is available to the public in both Turkish and English.
